If no damage or other problems have occurred by the renter on the car, the whole amount is returned to his/her account.
However, if the rental car company notices damage to the car returned or any other violation of the rules, it sometimes keeps the corresponding amount from the credit card, even without notice.
Therefore, renters ought to be very careful when choosing a rental car company and ensure that no guarantee is required.
